Zelensky says Ukraine will intensify strikes on Russian refineries
The move comes after Russia stepped up attacks on Kyiv and other cities, raising the stakes for energy infrastructure and wartime supply chains.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a Reuters interview that Ukraine will intensify strikes on Russian oil refineries in response to a recent escalation in Russian air attacks. He said Ukraine would not target civilians.
Reuters reported that Russia has recently stepped up drone and missile strikes on Kyiv and other cities, hitting energy, telecom, road and rail infrastructure. Moscow says those strikes are retaliation for Ukrainian attacks inside Russia.
The comments matter for energy markets because refineries sit at the center of the fuel-supply chain, and any escalation can ripple through product prices and sentiment around downstream names. In the X signal, traders highlighted Valero, Marathon Petroleum, Phillips 66, Delek US and Clean Harbors as watchlist names, though they are not the direct parties to the conflict.
The Reuters interview is the primary source for the new statement, while CNBC and other outlets independently carried the same readout. Both sides continue to deny deliberately targeting civilians.
