Nvidia weighs a $3 billion SB Energy stake as Ohio project support drops below $120 billion英語原文
The latest report adds IPO-linked funding terms to the OpenAI data center talks, extending the financing reset around the Ohio campus.
Nvidia is in discussions to invest as much as $3 billion in SB Energy, the SoftBank-backed developer behind a planned Ohio data center campus for OpenAI, according to The Information. The report says the money could be split between a payment when the Ohio deal is signed and another tranche tied to SB Energy’s planned IPO.
The new detail builds on earlier reporting that Nvidia has been reworking its support for the project. The Wall Street Journal said Nvidia’s initial guarantee is now expected to be less than $120 billion, down from the $250 billion previously discussed. Another report cited about 5 GW in the first phase of the campus, while OpenAI is still negotiating a binding lease for 10 GW.
For investors, the focus is not just the size of the checks but how Nvidia could use both equity and credit support to help finance AI infrastructure demand. That keeps NVDA, OpenAI and SoftBank-linked assets in the spotlight, especially with SB Energy also aiming to go public.
So far, the disclosures describe negotiations, not a signed deal. Any final structure, timing and valuation effects will depend on whether Nvidia, OpenAI and SB Energy can close the broader financing package.
